Opening up today's session, we shared our homework tasks. Abby had an excellent example of a comprehensive and extensively planned taskboard, complete with supporting resources. Thankfully, these resources have been shared and briefly explained during today's session. We are now looking at the second pillar of practice:
Using Notes and Google Keep to record transcripts will come in very handy. I think it may help my reluctant writers as well. That is, if it's quick and easy to use for those purposes. I really liked the idea of students making a recording of themselves reading, then transcribing within the app.
Our Teacher Workbook is starting to make sense as well. Each slide seemed onerous at first, but I can appreciate how it can simplfiy and organise planning and tracking achievement. As I become more The really great resource was the huge Multi text Database.
My biggest pin for this session comes from Te Mātaiaho:The focus of this strand is on teaching students to decode, make meaning from, and think critically about text.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your reflections from RPI Day 3 | Text Selection. It was great to read that you were able to take away some inspiring ideas from Abby’s task board feedback in the breakout session and that you find it beneficial to have visibility of other RPI participants’ homework implementation / resourcing through the Mahi Tracker. We have found that past participants have found this so helpful for design ideas, problem solving and creative inspiration.
I also hope that the Skill Builder on Summarising will be useful going forward and we would appreciate any feedback on the activities we have linked in if you get the opportunity to try some of them out.
We are looking forward to catching up with you again for Day 4 and hope you have a fabulous term break!

Hi Regan, Glad that you have seen some examples that might be useful for you - that's why we use exemplar texts for our kids! Just remember to use what is going to work for you and add to your classroom. Looking forward to catching up tomorrow. K
